Hello, and welcome!

My name is Chloë Blake Stevenson. I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with a Master’s degree in Foreign Language Education (Ed.M.).

I offer private French lessons for children and adults. Instruction is available for individuals, pairs, and small groups, tailored to meet each learner's goals. Classes are open to students of all proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced.

My pedagogical approach is communicative and standards-based, aligned with the proficiency guidelines established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

My lessons emphasize functional language use, concentrating on what students can do with French in real-world situations rather than memorizing grammatical rules or vocabulary in isolation. I guide students toward clear and measurable progress across the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. 

To this end, I prioritize meaningful interaction, incorporate authentic materials, and foster engagement in practical tasks. This approach enables students to strengthen their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills, while developing cultural literacy.

Instruction extends beyond grammar to encompass sociolinguistics, cultivating the communicative competence required to use French appropriately and effectively in real-world contexts.
